Lisbon is built on 7 hills. Unless you are an Olympic champion, don’t even think in walking up and down, take a tram, or electricos. Lisbon is very famous for its yellow old streetcars, it is kind of an unofficial tourist trams. You should try to ride one at least once especially around the Alfama. The most well known route is the 28. These trams date from around 1903, when they replaced horse-drawn carriages. The cars inside are made out of wood and you still find trams, that just have simple light bulbs for the inside illumination! Just be sure to get a seat or to hold on to something - it is real bumpy!!! |
